Shenay O'Brien is a vivacious, dynamic and versatile performer and one of SA's Premiere Entertainers. Breaking boundaries, making waves and redefining the industry as we know it. She has been active since 2009, performing at various events and functions such as, Jabula Dames and 67 Blankets for Madiba, and was also the resident Drag Act at Monte Casino's, Cantare. She has also been in various theatre and television productions such as Die van Aardes van Grootoor, Vellies & Feathers, AS, Dragging 30 (Grahamstown Arts Festival) and made her TV debut on Sober Companion. In 2015 she became the first Drag Artist to be signed to an acting agency (Talent Etc). In the same year (2015) she made SA history by becoming the FIRST drag performer to receive a "golden ticket' in the popular reality series Idols SA, and making it to the Top 16. In 2016 she performed and MC'ed at multiple events including her own Productions. 2016 also brought along Two nominations from BroadwayWorld.com: Best Actress in a Lead Role (AS) and Best Actress in a Featured Role (Dragging 30). 2017 saw her partnering with the United Nations and Liasa to be the first to partake in the global movement: Drag queen Story Hour which took place in Soweto. Getting the youth more involved in reading and education and breaking stereotypes and stigmas. She performed at various Corporate Events during 2017. In 2018 she also became a contributing author to " The State of Drag " a new book from New York released on Amazon.com being one of the representatives for South Africa. She has also recently recorded her first two afrikaans singles "Paspoort" and "LALA" due for later release in 2018 She recently released her cover of 'You are the Reason' by Calum Scott and was play listed on Zone Radio in Cape Town. In 2018 she Performed at various acclaimed events and corporate events. Shenay loves inspiring young people through her platform and career in the performing arts, focuses on educating and uplifting the youth of SA through her performances and Motivational Speaking and also creating awareness around the LGBTIQ community and contributing her talents to various charity events (Jabula Dames, Nelson Mandela Day,Wendie's Army and most recently SPCA Sandton) and spreading her #glitterkisses wherever she goes.
