Juanita Velts is a South African actress, dancer and performer with an honours degree in BA Drama. With her stunning personality she made her professional debut in 2006 with the Grahamstown festival production "Lost in Thought", directed by Christa-Louie van Heerden. The following year, she worked with Ben Kruger's production house on an industrial theatre piece. In 2009 she worked under the direction of Shareen Swart in the comical theatre production Hemelbed. Thereafter she appeared on 7de Laan and in a Roman's Pizza commercial. In 2010, Juanita had the opportunity to work under the direction of Pieter Bosch Botha in the play Noises Off, as well as appearing in Reza de Wet's, Mis - directed by Andre Stolz. Later that year she also played a role in the film Bakgat 2. In 2011 she played in a short film Los 'n boodskap that Andre Velts directed and again combined her strengths with Shareen Swart in Hardloop dominee. Afriforum approached Juanita in 2012 to perform in two of their productions called Treurgrond and Skepmoed. I between she played in two music videos of the band Anders, Somersdag and Mooi vir my. The feature film Koringberg, was realised in 2013, she played Letichia Roodenacght. The experience was a boost to her career. Later in 2013, “Binnelanders” gave her the opportunity to play Dr. Marlien Thiart. 2014, was a big year for her. She played in three feature films that was released “Forsaken”, “Knysna”and again the female lead in “Somer Son”. After that her big dream come true to be part of a radio story for RSG “Blindekol”. And she end 2015 off in feature “Die Pro” that was the first Afrikaans surf movie. February 2016 the thriller “Die Ontwaking” movie was released where Juanita played opposite Gys de Villiers. Her character Ella Nesser the young investigator had to try and catch the killer. It is adaptation of Chris Karsten’s book, Abel se Ontwaking. 2016 was an exciting year. Sy played in a Willie Esterhuizen’s film “Droomdag” and short after that in “Kampterrein”. The short film “Koue voete”, that she was in, was filmed for - and screened at the Silwerskerm festival of KYKNet.
