Carmen danced from the age of 6 until she was 11 years old. During that time she danced at various Eisteddfods and at the SA Championships of Performing Arts through which she was selected to participate in Los Angeles. She started vocal training at the age of 10 and since then she participated in the vocal category at various Eisteddfods, the SA Championships of Performing Arts National Round, SATCH National Rounds, various art and craft markets, fashion shows, theatre productions, the Junior City Council of Pretoria’s Annual Mayor’s function and finale singer at Pretoria State Theatre. Over the years she received several Vocal Category Winner awards at the Centurion Eisteddfod and the Pretoria Eisteddfod. She participated at SATCH (South Africa Talent Championships) from 2011 to 2015 in the Vocal Category and she was selected as part of the SA Team to participate at AMTC, Orlando, Florida, US for four consecutive years. In June 2013 Carmen attended AMTC for the Vocal, Acting and Modelling Categories where she gained valuable experience in singing, acting, commercials, lifestyle modelling, cold read and scene reading. At AMTC Carmen was selected as Finalist for Female Teen actor. In 2017 Carmen was the Senior Category Winner of Uitblinkers KykNET NOU! Solis vir Christus competition. Besides her singing talent Carmen loves acting. She attended drama training at the Pretoria Youth Theatre and Act Studios and in 2016 completed the Acting on Screen course presented by Jacques Bessenger and Lelia Etsebeth, where she received very positive feedback from Jacques, Lelia and Gerrit Schoonhoven. Carmen featured in several Broadway Productions where she was cast in singing roles: “Hairspray” - School Production, “Going to Broadway” (Pierneef Theatre); “West Side Broadway” and “96 000 – Where my Treasure Lies” 2014 (Atterbury Theatre), with Carmen cast as one of the lead roles Philipa. “96 000” was part of an intensive training program by FADCreations. She is a very hardworking and dedicated young girl that sets high standards for herself. Carmen is fully bi-lingual and she always enjoys a new challenge. She loves netball and attended American Cheer-leading classes. She also enjoys giving back to the community by volunteering in her free time at the SPCA.
