Dean was born in Johannesburg on the in October 1999 He was a student and prefect at Reddam House Bedfordview from 2011-2017 and was avidly involved in the arts and sport(martial arts, athletics and rugby). During Dean's high school career, he started to develop a passion for music (guitar and vocal) and performance(Theatre, Film, Television and Musical Theatre) which led to his first Singer/guitarist TV appearance in 2013 on SABC 3's 'little stars'. In the years to follow, Dean featured in musicals such as Grease(2014) playing Danny Zuko and Big Fish(2016) playing Will Bloom directed by Terence Bridget at The Theatre of Marcellus (Emperors Palace). In 2015, Dean was awarded first place at the South African Championships of Performing Arts for four of the five acting styles on showcase and further selected to represent South Africa at the World Championships in the United States. That same year, Dean got three yesses from DJ Fresh, Lalla Hirayama and Shado Twala on the 6th Season of South Africa's got Talent where (according to Etv) he "melted the hearts of teenage girls(and the young at heart) across the country". Dean has also made appearances on SABC 3's High Rollers, as well as featuring on the nationwide Hippo Insurance Campaign(2016/2017) on TV,online and radio. Dean has also starred in multiple theatre productions for his High School , FEDA at the Johannesburg theatre(2015) as well as being awarded best actor by Naledi awards 'chairperson of the Judges' (Renos spanoudes) at the Reddam House Bedfordview House Plays for his role as Apartheid Prison warden in 'Nosipho'(2015). Dean has been awarded five sets of full colors(and honors) for arts and culture during his high school career for acting, music and public speaking, as well as three 'musician of the year' awards. Dean ended his matric year with being nominated for his 5th Arts and culture man of the year award, as well as winning 3rd best arts student in the school. Dean is currently studying a degree in Theatre and Performance with a concentration in acting at the University of Cape Town.
