“All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players” – William Shakespeare. The ‘star-struck-bug’ bit Edmundt at the tender age of five and led him to pursue his childlike idea of a ‘professional’ acting career which kicked off with his very first lead role (so to speak) as “Die padda” in Die padda wou gaan opsit met sy nooi in die vlei. The performance was magical, the stage and lights enticing and the audience felt like old acquaintances. He proceeded to portrayed numerous roles in various stage productions all throughout his high school career and even received awards such as Best Senior Supporting Male Actor. In 2009 he met his drama coach, At Strydom, for whom he wrote and performed short theatre pieces some of which were professionally showcased in the Pierneef Theatre. He received awards for Best Senior Exam (Strydom Drama Studio) and Best Male Senior Student (Strydom Drama Studio). In 2013 he completed Brumilda van Rensburg’s Acting Academy TV Drama Beginners course for which he received an A++. Since then he has worked for 7de Laan as an extra, starred in the short film SHOW HOUSE and the film Had Better Days. In 2013 he joined Talent ETC and by means of their capable hands featured in projects such as Toya Delazy’s Memoriam music video, the 2013 South African Airways commercial, performed in Montecasino’s Parade (MTN GO BIG Festival) and even strutted his stuff as an amateur robber in the renowned local soap opera 7de laan. As the talented Natasha Bedingfield once sang – “The rest is still unwritten.” He’s a diamond in the rough embracing every opportunity presenetd to him to perfect his craft. He keeps his head and hopes high, his dreams and aspirations big and continuously and confidently believes that if that’s where God wants him then that’s where he’ll be.
