This young and versatile performer - born and raised in Bethlehem in the Free State - has been performing for as long as he can remember. Be it in the art of music, acting or dancing, his passion and experience as a stage performer is what he believes sets him apart from the rest. His music experience kicked off in primary school where he sang in the school choir for 7 years. In 2004 he completed his Grade 4 Unisa National Piano Exams as well as his Grade 3 Unisa Music Theory Exams. In high school he joined forces with Alouise Peens and together they formed Voxday, a local Pop/Rock band of which he became the guitarist and vocalist. Alouise Peens is now a well known musician in the industry. Right after his election in Grade 11 as head boy of Voortrekker High School, he received a R130 000 music bursary from the prestigious private school, Southdowns College and their music academy, TIME (The Institute of Music Excellence) in Irene, Pretoria. By the time that he completed his matric certificate with 5 distinctions, his professional music career had already begun. Abel got chosen to be a member of the well known boyband NRG that was signed by one of South Africa's most successful and well-known Afrikaans record labels, Select Music (Sony Music). In 2011 NRG - also known as "Energie" - released their self-titled de-but album. Since then, he has been performing with the group across the country. They have sung on the main stages of some of the most renowned music festivals in SA ( KKNK, Innibos, Aardklop and Hart van Windhoek). In 2014 NRG released their 2nd album called Roulette . Together with the band Abel has shared the stage with top-selling artists such as Kurt Darren, Nicholis Louw, Ray Dylan, Romanz, Heinz Winckler, Andre Schwartz, Joe Foster and Jac de Priester. Abel is also a passionate actor/dancer. He has played lead roles in a few National Children’s Theatre productions and he recently made an appearance as the character Dean, in a SABC 3 series called Roer Jou Voete. In 2013, Abel started with his modelling career.  Since then, he's been seen on the runway at AFI's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. He also did a few editorials for the online magazine, Gaschette Mag. 2016 marked the year of his first overseas contract. For 6 months Abel performed in the hotels of Spain (as part of the group, Magnifico) where he sang and danced 6 nights a week.
