Francois Viljoen is a young, talented musician and actor working on making his mark in the South African entertainment industry. The 27 year old has been keeping himself busy playing in various theatre and student film productions throughout completing his studies, including a music video debut, Glip-Glip Vingers for the popular South African band, Die Tuindwergies, as well as a music video for popular Afrikaans boy group, NRG, for their song Als of Niks that featured in the AfriVisie 2015 Songwriting competion’s top 5. Francois had his first cameo appearance in the film, Verraaiers. He’s performed in popular stage productions such as Babbelkous and an original musical comedy Mamma, Ek Wil ‘n Man Hê. In 2014 he performed at his first festival, Aardklop, under Henry Mylne in a play written by Schalk Schoombee, Gepiekel, which was well received by full theatre houses. He’s also accompanied on stage acting heavyweights such as Kaz Mcfadden and David Louw in Theatre Uncut’s Pick One during 2013 and played his first supporting lead role in his debut feature film appearance for Rowwe Diamante, directed by Willie Olwage, which was released by CrossKine Theatres in 2015. He followed that up with the leading role in the movie, Reload, portraying the wild, younger life of youth evangelist, Francois de Jager, also released in 2015. Musically, he’s writing some original Afrikaans and English songs, hopefully to be heard in the near future as he’s currently in the process of recording. He intends to work with SA’s best in the film, television, theatre and music industry so as to leave a footprint as an accomplished all-rounder musician and actor.
