After working in America, South Dakota and Gabon, West Africa for four years, Jean-Chris Posthumus decided to pursue his dream to become an actor and began studying B.A Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of the Free State. He quickly started playing in numerous theatre productions, mostly lead roles, like “Die Portret,” “Engel en die Potlooddief”, “ ‘n Wintersprokie”, “Bobaas van die Boendoes”, “Pillars of Society”, “Emperor’s New Clothes”, “Ipi Zombi” and “Wagoed”. After his studies, Jean-Chris got the lead role as Jan, in “Liefling – The Musical”, which they performed in the Sand Du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein. This production gave him the opportunity to show off his natural singing talent and during this time, he received professional singing training by Philip Kotzé. That same year (2013), he again played one of the lead roles in “Wasgoed”, as Baas Jan, which was performed at the Vryfees. At the end of that year, Jean-Chris got his big break when 7de Laan phoned and offered him the role as “Bertus van Breda” in the day time soapie. Since then, Jean-Chris has been appearing on the soapie and in his free time, does motivational speaking, public appearances and enjoys acting in music videos and documentaries. There is still a lot to be seen by this determined and talented actor.
