One finds it difficult to describe Lee Scott’s style of music in words. Some people would classify it as pop music, others sees it as Blues and Swing music and the younger crowd watch him rocking at performances and thinks that he is just so “cool” He therefore leaves it up to his audience to decide for themselves. As far as he is concerned he is living his dream, using his God-given talent to entertain his audiences! As a former member of one of the country’s top boy bands, Hi5, Lee has gained more experience than your normal young artist. With TV recordings like “Dis hoe dit is met Steve”, “DKNT”, “World of Winners” and “Noot vir Noot”.
Lee is very proud of his debut album “Die Enigste Manier”, released in August 2010. It contains 12 songs in both Afrikaans and English. He is very excited about the fact that he wrote some of the lyrics on the album. The powerful songs guaranteed him airplay on several community as well as national radio stations. The fact that the song “We Can Try” was stayed in number one position for six weeks in a row on Radio Ripple is a sure sign that the CD is a huge hit amongst the public. Another huge milestone is the fact that the song was also play listed on KFM. Several other songs from the album can be heard on different radio stations.
As far as theatre work is concerned, Lee gained a lot of experience as he already played in a number of stage productions in Barnyard theatres throughout the country, Sound Stage in Midrand and Gold Reef City’s Hippodrome.
One of the highlights in Lee’s career was during 2007 when he, as part of the group Hi-5, performed for six months in one of Spain’s toptheatres, the Son Amar Theatre in Mallorca.
During his performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in Norway in May 2010 he felt like an international superstar. This performance has opened many doors for Lee.
Back in SA he shared the stage with some of South Africa’s top artists, such as Jamali, Kurt Darren, André Schwartz, Malaika, Africa Mamas, Amanda Strydom, Nicholis Louw and many more.
The CD received two music award nominations – a SAMA nomination in the category “Best Pop Album” and also a Huisgenoot Tempo Award nomination in the category “Best Pop Album”
The highlight for 2012 was Lee’s performance at the 6th Annual SAFTA
Awards. “I want gold status with my next CD. I want to tour the country and take my music to every city and town in SA and I dream of launching my own fashion label soon.”
With his unique voice and good looks, Lee Scott is an artist to be recon with. Be ready to be blown away by this young talented performer.
