sinethemba foba

Sinethemba is originally from a small mining town in the Free State called Virginia. He matriculated from Welkom High School in 2004 and completed a National Diploma in Hospitality Management in 2009 as well as a B-tech degree in Drama in 2014, specialising in Physical Theatre and Directing, from the Tshwane University of Technology. Whilst studying, he performed in: George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, directed by Karina Lemmer, George Orwel’s Animal farm, directed by Dr Janine Lewis, Federico Garcia Lorca’S Dona Rosita Directed by Prof Bett Hoon Pacey. Sinethemba also had the opportunity to perform at the National Arts Festival 2013 in TUT’s B-tech production: Apple Soup, a satire written by Katlego Chale and directed by Kenneth Mlambo and again in 2014 doing Pieter Jonker’s Petros and the hyena. For part of his praxis, Sinethemba Directed Athol Fugard’s Master Harold…and the boys as well as conceptualised, choreographed and performed in his own physical theatre piece titled under(mine), inspired by the miner’s struggles and joys in their industry. Sinethemba believes that drama/acting is a representation of life, therefore it has to be done with the utmost truth and honesty in order to achieve a holistic three dimensional character. “Actors and performers need to take their craft seriously, there is no time for willy-nilly mediocrity, it is a career and business after all, and people are paying a lot of money to be entertained!”. This pint sized actor and performer cannot wait to find his place in the entertainment industry and work hard. One day when it’s all done, Sinethemba wants to smile and say “I’ve seen it all, I’ve done it all…now let me exit in peace”
