Viljé Maritz is a South African actor (stage, television & film); television presenter & voice over artist. He is best known to TV audiences for his role as Gys Eloff in the M-Net soapie BINNELANDERS (2009-2012). It was his first major acting role. He also starred as Ben King in the popular SABC3 drama series HIGH ROLLERS (2013-2017). Born David De Villiers Maritz, Viljé was head boy of Jan van Riebeeck High School matriculating in 2008. He is the son of veteran actor Albert Maritz. Viljé received the 2008 Best Acting Trophy Honorary School Colours for National Best Actor (ATKV), and Roll of Honour for participating in the National Best Production (ATKV). He was the first pupil in history to receive double gold at the Logan Toneelfees (film festival). His television experience expanded to appearances in VLOEKSTEEN (2012), LIEFSTE KAYLA (2013), DONKERLAND (2013), DIE BOLAND MOORDE (2013), SWARTWATER (Season 1 2014, Season 2 2016), BLOEDBROERS (2015-2016), ELKE SKEWE POT (2017), DIE KASTEEL (releasing 2018) & SARA SE GEHEIM (Season 2, releasing 2018). As a film actor he starred as Wynand in PLATTELAND (2011), Carel-Jan van Aswegen in VERRAAIERS (2013), Brandon Fourie in HOLLYWOOD IN MY HUIS (2014), Marius in MOOIRIVIER (2015), Dirkie Lawrence in DIE PRO (2015) and Juan in ‘n MAN SOOS MY PA (2015). He starred in the short-films DAMDUIKERS (2013), VAN AGTER DIE DEUR (2015). As stage actor he played the lead in the theatre production BREINBLIKSEM (2008 directed by Hennie van Greunen) and 4000 MYL (2015 – directed by Hennie van Greunen). In 2011 he joined veteran actor Ben Kruger on stage for the role of Hennie in the production, MY PA DINK HY’S ELVIS. In 2016 he was seen in the role of Jos in the production FRATS, directed by Albert Maritz. His presenting career kicked off in 2014 when he co-presented the SABC3 Afrikaans-language lifestyle and magazine program NAweek. As from 2017 he is a kykNET presenter for the festival program Fiësta and SABC2 presenter for the lifestyle program Pasella. As voiceover artist Viljé has done radio commercials for First National Bank, Standard Bank, Telesure and links for the television nature program 50/50. Viljé is a natural athlete with a passion for surfing and for any adventure that gets the adrenaline pumping. Through hard work and undeniable talent many of his dreams have already become reality. Viljé aspires to build on these dreams and make the best of every opportunity that allows him to utilize his undeniable creativity as a proud South African born talent.
