2014 marks Lyall’s 10th year in the entertainment industry. He started his career as an actor in Janice Honeyman’s annual pantomime, Cinderella, in 2004. His career highlights include playing the role of Zazu in Disney’s The Lion King in South Africa and Asia and Riff-Raff in The Rocky Horror Show at the New Victory Theatre. He also went onto join productions such as The Sound of Music playing the role of Friedrich, My Fair Lady, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Thomas in Ons Vir Jou, Tommy in Nicky Silvers Pterodactyls and Danny Zuko in Grease for Wellington Production House. His television productions include Uncle Max for BBC Film, the role of Mac in Flesh – A Franz Marx Pilot, Hall, a Tech Officer in Strike Back for HBO and John Walsh in Donkerland for KykNet (DSTV). He has been involved in a number of corporate events, radio and television commercials, in all aspects.
Lyall is an aspiring entrepreneur and has always taken a keen interest in producing. He formed part of the Alexander Theatre Campaign in 2006 that resurrected the theatre in Braamfontein after it was dormant for over ten years and then went onto produce Spoof Full of Sugar at Old Mutual Theatre on the Square to acclaimed reviews in 2009. He later attended LIVE! – The Global Performing Arts Exchange Conference held in Singapore for international Producers in 2011, increasing his knowledge and expertise within the international entertainment industry. On his return to South Africa in 2011, he joined EDGE Entertainment for a short-term contract in New Business Development and Sponsorship implementation for Villa Rosa on KykNet (DSTV). Lyall continues to explore and initiate original concepts and ideas with the intention of establishing relationships with other industry key leaders to create and produce these Proudly South African experiences.
Lyall lives by the philosophy that by doing what he loves there will be no need to retire.
